end 2010 / begin 2011 - Impossibility to use tyres

Belgian OVAM didn't give the authorization to use tyres for the construction of the Earthresidence, arguing there are nowadays better ways to recycle rubber.

29.04.2010 - The terrain is cleared - plants are taken away

A crane is used to take the plants away and place them along the canal surrounding the Foundation.

27.04.2010 - Works begin on the terrain!

Plants are cut by Geert and Carla Verbeke. Ronald de Winter's plaster & rubber molds are taken away from the terrain of the Earthresidence.

23.04.2010 - First contacts with OVAM & Recytyre

The project of the Earthresidence is explained to the Belgian authorities (OVAM) in order to get from Recytyre the 2000 tyres needed for the construction of the artwork.

12.04.2010 - Meeting at the Verbeke Foundation


Meeting with Simon Delobel, Frans De Medts and his wife, Bruno Deraedt, Willy Raets, Flory Van Tendeloo, Elien Vermeiren, David Verstappen.

Frans de Medts presents the last plans of the Earthresidence. Plans are discussed in the cafetaria of the Verbeke Foundation: (c)argex will be used on a plastic sheet, tyres have to be find in Belgium. The terrain is finally delimited.


 

23.03.2010: the project is entitled "Earthresidence"

The Earthresidence's blog is created on the same day.

Meeting at the Verbeke Foundation on 22.03.2010

Meeting with Simon Delobel, Frans De Medts, Bruno Deraedt, Willy Raets, Geert Verbeke and David Verstappen.

First plans drawn by architect Frans De Medts are discussed and modified. Planning of the construction is also discussed: the Verbeke Foundation will provide the materials for the construction when Earthship Belgium will organize volunteers' activity on the site (maximum 8 volunteers working at the same time on the building of the Earth Residence). The construction will begin before the opening of the eco art exhibition Green Summer.
